What is the Duke of Edinburgh's InternationalAward?

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (DofE) is the world’s leading youth achievement award, empowering all young people aged 14-24 to explore their full potential and find their purpose, passion and place in the world, regardless of their location or circumstance.

Participating in the Award is a challenge for the individual, rather than a competition with others. It is a fully inclusive program and has no social, political, or religious affiliations.

Since its inception over 60 years ago, the Award has supported the growth of young people in more than 140 countries and regions around the world. Through non-formal education, the Award has played an important role in the personal development of young people.

History of DofE

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award was founded by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG, KT in 1956, in conjunction with Kurt Hahn, the German educationalist.

In the post-war era, His Royal Highness wanted to bridge the gap between leaving formal education at 15 and entering into National Service at 18, so that young men made the best use of their free time, found interests and acquired self-confidence and a sense of purpose that would support them into their future and help them to become well-rounded citizens.

His Royal Highness Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh KG GCVO. The Duke is especially passionate about organizations and causes which provide opportunities to young people. He is Patron of the Award as well as Chairman of Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation and previously chaired the International Council for 17 years. He is a Gold Award holder and is also a Trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh Award – United Kingdom.

Adventurous Journeys

Adventurous Journey in Shenzhen

Shenzhen city in Guangdong is perfect for adventurous journeys. Multiseek runs great routes that facilitate young people to take on challenge of navigation, leadership and self-development with Bronze and Silver Adventurous Journeys.

Both Delivers Mountains And Coastlines

While other cities offer either mountains or coastlines, Shenzhen delivers both. Hiking routes, as well as cycling and Kayaking routes are available here. There are so many ‘undeveloped’ trails that make it ideal for DoE award seekers, supporting them to explore the geology, coast studies or the ecologic community.

Stable Weather

It enjoys a mild climate, abundant sunshine and short winters. All four seasons are usually sunny and dry, making it excellent for outdoor exploration.

Safety Without Sacrifice

Hospital-grade emergency response within 30 minutes of any trail.

Hybrid campsites with Wi-Fi zones for parent check-ins
(without killing the wilderness vibe).

UAV tracks to guarantee safety

Global Citizenship

Our camps leverage Shenzhen’s DNA as a migrant city to foster:

Cross-cultural teamwork through beach cleanups with
international school peers.

Entrepreneurial grit via pop-up “survival business” challenges using foraged materials.

SDG fluency gained from observing green tech startups alongside fishing villages.
