Henan is not only home to Shaolin Temple, the birthplace of Kung Fu, it is also proud to have five world heritage sites include the mysterious Buddhist statues in Longmen Grottoes, the magnificent Historic Monuments of Dengfeng in "The Centre of Heaven and Earth", the ancient Yin Ruins in Anyang, as well as parts of the Silk Road and the Grand Canal. Imagine 2,300 caves carved into a mountain by hand! Picture this: Over 100,000 ancient Buddha statues stare back at you from limestone cliffs beside a river. Crafted 1,500 years ago, some are taller than a giraffe (17m!), others tiny as your palm. Touch the walls – you’re touching the same stone Tang Dynasty artists chiseled. Try and see if you could find the ‘smiling Buddha’ – it went viral in the 7th century!
White Horse Temple, Luoyang

Shaolin Temple, Dengfeng
